Avis restaurant Tipu Sultan

Compared to other similar restaurants in birmingham, this one is pretty average, nothing special about the food compared to the prices they charge which are excessive. I was especially disappointed with my chaunsa mocktail, it was just mango juice from a carton, however the mixed berries mocktail had bit more effort put into it

Food was average and service was just plain bad. Slow and incompetent. I’ve been here many times but this time was awful with the window cleaner still cleaning and not being attended to when we were one of two tables there. Food wait time was 30 minutes ridiculous. And after complaining there was resolution offered.

Disappointed that tap water is no longer offered(previously did) clearly profits are put ahead of good customer care. We had a family function and spent almost £30-40 on just water. It's not cheap taking your family out prices have gone up everywhere but restaurants who refuse tap water to customers when infact it can easily be offered are clearly intetested in making money. We won't be returning any time soon for our family functions . Many restaurants out there who still put customer experience and value for money before profits.

Took a while for the food to arrive, but delicious and fresh as always! Update: Revisited over a year later today. The service has deteriorated further. Tipu Sultan's manager believes they can lack in customer service and are exempt of all negligences when they are busy, that is the excuse used for any mishap. If they are busy they will not let you have your starters and mains all served together. Some waiters have no manners whatsoever and behave as though they're doing you a favour. Our waiter in particular thought it's a good gesture of customer service to just place the receipt on the table without notification and leave; with no book to enclose cash nor asked if we want to use card. We had to pay by asking another waiter who was well mannered. The previous rude waiter who was assigned to our table then decided to shout and call us from the back, as we were heading out, (10 mins after he had left us with the receipt) "SIR DID YOU PAY???" We also witnessed customers leaving their seats and asking waiters where their maincourses are, after having waited for over 30-40 minutes. This seems like a regular issue that Tipu's seem to have become rather comfortable with. Another point to note is the small amount of meat in their curries. Be prepared to have ample sauce and 3 pieces of meat/chicken. The manager and waiters need a lesson on how to treat customers.

UPDATE- Outrageous service when asked for tap water needed for my meds. “ We don’t give tap water” What restaurant doesn’t give a glass of water!!!!!!! 💦 Thank god they don’t charge for using the toilet or washing hands… OR IS THAT NEXT!!!! 2nd visit here with the family. Service was very quick, friendly and a large variety of dishes on the menu. All arrived at the same time as requested with the food all hot. Great place for real authentic asian food BUT NOT FOR TAP WATER 💦

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Toba Sultan, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! Food (10/10): The food was simply outstanding! Every dish was bursting with rich flavors and perfectly balanced spices. The meats were incredibly tender and juicy, while the rice was fragrant and cooked to perfection. The presentation was also top-notch, making the meal as visually appealing as it was delicious. Service (10/10): The staff were extremely friendly, professional, and attentive. They made sure we were comfortable, checked on us regularly without being intrusive, and provided excellent recommendations. The service was fast, yet everything was prepared with great care. Ambiance (10/10): The restaurant’s atmosphere was warm and inviting, with elegant décor and a relaxing vibe. The attention to detail in the design made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Toba Sultan exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience with exceptional food and top-tier service, this place is a must-visit! I’ll definitely be coming back again soon.
